Bringing Down Confederate Monuments

 

On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, we held an online Open Conversation on the Confederacy & White Supremacy, to discuss the nationwide uproar over the memorialized Confederacy and calls to bring down statues and rename schools.

We were joined by Rev. Robert W. Lee (great-nephew of General Robert E. Lee), Pastor Anthony Smith (from Mission House in Salisbury, NC),  and from Tyler, Texas: Ambra Phillips, DG Montalvo, and Kilton McCraken Sr.

The online conversation received some local TV news media coverage in Tyler, Texas, and the next day the independent school district of Tyler, Texas, voted unanimously to rename two high schools that had been named for decades after Confederates!
